April 15th 2017 - club update
First of all, if you are a new Kent Valley Road Club member, welcome to our club. Because of the Easter holidays some of you may receive this email before your membership/fixture card has reached you in the post.
Kent Valley Road Club’s annual programme of events is now well under way with a well-supported 100k audax ride that took in Kirkstone Pass, and very successful Circuit of Wild Boar Fell Lakes and Lancs SpoCo series time trial plus our first Miltnthorpe club 10.
Next weekend sees us break new ground by combining our Westmorland Tankard Road Race (six laps of the Old Hutton Circuit starting at 10am next Saturday) with Lune RCC’s Aughton Circuit event to offer a 3/4th cats two-day race. All is set for some really good early season racing but we still need four more volunteers to help marshal. If you can spare time next Saturday please contact me ASAP and our organiser, Steve Gove, will allocate you a bib, red flag and a corner where you will be supporting two official British Cycling Marshals (now empowered to stop traffic!)
We are taking over the lead role with this year’s 3CC Sportive from Kendal Rotary Club, but the event (August 13th) will still be in aid of the Rotary Club’s popular Young Athletes Fund. The plan is to run it on a single, very challenging route over 100k from the new Kendal Rugby Club complex. Entry will be online via SportIdent, as well as on the day, and we hope bringing it into Kendal will make it more popular with local riders.
Lastly, as everyone plans ahead for the summer, there are a couple of amendments to the calendar on your membership/fixture card. Our Milnthorpe Open 15miles Time Trial is on Wednesday, May 24th (not 22nd) and our club night time trial on August 9th is over that same 15-mile route, not the usual Milnthorpe 10. Also our annual Bob Swailes Road Race will be on Sunday, September 17th, and not the 10th because of HQ availablility
