New for 2017 will be a two-day 3/4th cats road race (in conjunction with the Lune RCC) on April 23/24 using the Old Hutton Circuit on the Saturday and the Aughton Circuit on the Sunday; an open Audax Association 200k/100k on June 4th with the longer ride doing a loop of the Lake District without crossing major passes; and a "come-and-try-it" slot at the start of our club 10 time trials at Milnthorpe to encourage newcomers.
Reports to the AGM reflected the successful introduction of club audax rides ranging from 100k to 200k; two very successful open road races (the Westmorland Tankard and Bob Swailes Memorial event); well-supported open time trial events and winter lanequests series; plus 21 club events time trials, the 3CC sportive rides in August and a thoroughly enjoyable Awards Night Dinner at The Villa in November.
Tim Bennett reported that almost £900 was donated to charity from the midsummer 10 and Edwin Howson Memorial 25 with all suplus from the 3CC going to Kendal Rotary Club's Young Athletes Fund.
Kendal's Rotarians are committed to helping with a sportive in 2017 but we are moving to a new, challenging 100k course, hopefully starting and finishing at the new Kendal Rugby Club complex off Shap Road. The date will be August 13th and it will be a first ever sportive in Kendal.
