July 24th 2018 - Summer extra update
Club Champs 25
The KVRC champs 25 (incorporating our Wilson Memorial H’cap) will be on Sunday, August 5th, using the club version (1.7miles finishing leg up the Lyth Valley) of the Levens 25 course with the Gilpin Bridge Inn as HQ. We are starting at 8am from Levens Brow so all riders will need to allow time to get up there after registering at the HQ. If you want to ride and beat your handicap target then please email me or message me on Facebook and give me your fastest 25 time or Milnthorpe 10 time this season.
We now have two volunteers to marshal tomorrow’s Milnthorpe 10 but we still have six 10s, our champs 25, a Jungle hilly and Shap and back club time trials to put on, and we can’t run them without marshals. So if you haven’t yet done your stint please have a look at those dates and let me know when you can help.
Paul Latham is currently plotting a route for a 120k club audax ride – it could be a hilly challenge – and that is also on August 5th. So if a 25-mile time trial is not your thing then why not test your bottom gear on Paul’s route while looking out for audax controls?
90th Anniversary Ride
August 12th is the date of our 90th Anniverary Ride and Steve Scott has come up with a great 90k route from Kendal Rugby Club. It follows back lanes through Staveley, Crook, Underbarrow, Brigsteer, Hincaster, Sandside, Leighton Moss, Keer Sands, Bolton-le-Sands (lunch at Red Bank Farm cafe) then back via the Kellets, Burton, Holme Mills, Ackenthwaite and Sedgwick to Kendal. The 90-milers can then do the Shap/Orton circuit! We want to see as many riders as possible sporting our retro anniversary jerseys (still got some L, XL, XXL and a couple of XXXL - only £25 each) to make it a memorable day.
£778 for CancerCare
Tim Bennett is happy to report a surplus of £778 from our Midsummer 10 on the Levens course and that will now be donated to his chosen charity for this year: CancerCare.
