Speedy junior riders dominated our annual open time trials weekend on the Levens courses: Sebastian Grindley (North Cheshire Clarion) winning Saturday’s 10 in 19mins 17secs and Joe Cosgrove (Team Bottrill) fastest rider in Sunday’s Edwin Howson Memorial 25 with a 49mins 35secs clocking.
Seb Grindley’s ride on Saturday represented an average speed of more than 31mph and he was runner-up in Sunday’s 25 with a time of 50-20.
Fastest road bike on Saturday was 43rd placed Kamil Waligora (360 Cycling) with 21-57 while the fastest woman rider was Springfields Financial RT’s national veteran star Debbie Moss in 22-07.
Leading local riders were: 26th placed Simon Horsley (Legato RT) 21-00; 30th our own David Flux in 21-06; 52nd and second-placed road bike rider Alex Thomas (also KVRC) 22-18; and Ben Lovell (KVRC) 22-19.
Joe Cosgrove was fifth in Saturday’s 10 in 19-46 but demonstrating super powers of recovery he was out on his own next morning with the only sub-50 minute ride of the day.
Kamil Waligora was again fastest of the road bike riders, clocking 56-16 for 25th overall and the local contingent was once more headed by Simon Horsley in 15th place with a time of 54-25. Alex Thomas just missed beating the hour in 41st place on his road bike with a time of 1-00-06.
